Checking purchasing card expenditure

Over the past month, there has been a significant increase in purchasing card expenditure not being checked and approved by card holders and approvers. 

Oxfordshire County Council has a purchasing card policy and it is a serious issue when monthly checks are not completed. 

Reminder 

Between 1 and 15 of every month card holders and purchasing card approvers must check the previous month’s transactions. Cardholders must check transactions for accuracy, that they are coded correctly and any receipts uploaded into the system. 

Once these check have been completed the card approver must review the transactions and approve them. Purchasing cards will be blocked if transactions are consistently left as unreviewed and/or unapproved. We want to avoid this happening and ensure everyone can continue to use their cards without interruption
