Oxfordshire Libraries

Oxfordshire Libraries are excited to announce the launch of this year’s Short Story Competition, offering writers of all ages the chance to have their work published as an eBook on the Oxfordshire Libraries OverDrive page and Libby app in 2027.

The competition is open to three age categories:

  • Children: 7 to 11 years
  • Young Adult: 12 to 17 years
  • Adult: 18 years and above

Children’s stories can be up to 1,000 words, while young adult and adult entries can be up to 3,000 words.

Entry is free and submissions open on 14 September 2026. The closing date is 15 November 2026.

If you know any budding authors with a story waiting to be written, encourage them to enter and share their stories with library customers across Oxfordshire.
