Mileage rates in the IBC have been updated

These changes ensure reimbursements remain fair and compliant with national rules.

This change will be backdated to April and this means mileage claims between now and April will be uplifted and anyone who has claimed will receive this back in their payslip.

What’s changed?

The main change affects employees who use their own vehicle for business travel:

  • 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles
  • 25p per mile for any miles over 10,000

This means the first rate has increased from 45p per mile.

Electric and salary sacrifice vehicles

Rates for salary sacrifice (company) electric vehicles have also been updated:

  • 7p per mile for home charging
  • 15p per mile for public charging

Where journeys involve both, claims should be split on a reasonable basis. No change to other mileage rates

There are no changes to:

  • Motorcycle mileage (24p per mile)
  • Bicycle mileage (20p per mile)
