Key Stage 2 Test Results
With Key Stage 2 test results being released later than originally planned this year, we would strongly encourage schools to make full use of the marking review process where appropriate.
As always, schools should carefully review outcomes once results are available and consider whether any papers should be checked or reviewed, particularly where results appear unexpected, are close to a threshold, or do not align with the school's wider assessment evidence.
The marking review window has been extended into September, providing schools with additional time to undertake this process. We would encourage headteachers and assessment leads to review results carefully before finalising any conclusions about pupil attainment.
This is particularly important where:
• A result is unexpected in relation
to the pupil's known attainment.
• A pupil has narrowly missed a threshold.
• There are significant implications for an individual pupil or a school's published outcomes.
• The school identifies any anomalies when reviewing scripts.
The Standards and Testing Agency has confirmed that the marking review process remains available to schools where there are concerns about the accuracy of marking, and we would encourage schools to consider this route where appropriate.
Taking time to review results carefully this year will help ensure that pupils receive the outcomes they have accurately achieved and that schools can be confident in the final published data.
