Information KS2 SATs monitoring visits

Good Morning,

Local Authorities are required to make unannounced monitoring visits to 10% of schools which administer KS2 SATs. 

Some of these visits will take place on Friday 8 May 26 and some on Monday 18 May 26 but most of the visits will take place during SATs week. 

If our visit is during SATs week, then we will need to visit all rooms where the SATs are being administered and we will remain for the duration of the SATs and watch the collation of test papers.

In 2026, these visits will be conducted by:

Please could you inform your office staff in case you receive a visit.

All monitoring visitors will have photo identification as required in the KS2 tests: monitoring visits guidance and have a current DBS. We understand that schools frequently like to check these, so we will also have our DBS available.

If your school receives a monitoring visit, the monitoring visitor will also provide my contact details. In the unlikely event that there are any discrepancies, I will call you to explain next steps.
