Free Staff Flu Vaccinations
Free flu vaccinations for school staff
As we head into the winter months, our public health team is offering all school staff access to a free flu vaccination.
Who is eligible?
Before arranging your vaccination, please check whether you are eligible for a free flu jab through the NHS. This includes people aged 65 and over, certain health conditions, and other eligible groups.
If you are eligible, please book your vaccination directly through the NHS.
If you are not eligible for a free flu vaccination through the NHS, we will reimburse the cost of your flu jab up to a maximum of £20. You can book your vaccination with the pharmacy of your choice.
How to claim reimbursement
Once you have received your flu vaccination:
- Keep your receipt as proof of payment.
- Submit an expenses claim through the IBC self-service.
- Select "Flu Jab" as the expense type.
- Enter the cost centre PH0020.
Ensure all details are completed correctly, as incomplete claims may delay processing. Approved claims will be reimbursed through payroll, subject to monthly payroll cut-off dates. Claims must be submitted in the same month the vaccination has been received.
Important information
- The reimbursement offer applies to flu vaccinations only.
- The scheme is available until 31 December 2026.
- We encourage colleagues to have their vaccination as early as possible to ensure the best protection throughout the winter season.
Protect yourself and others this winter
The flu vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect yourself and those around you. While flu is often unpleasant, it can be serious and, for some people, potentially life-threatening. Having your vaccination in autumn or early winter helps provide protection before flu begins to circulate more widely. Find out more about flu vaccination
In addition to vaccination, you can help reduce the spread of flu and other seasonal illnesses by:
- Staying at home and limiting contact with others if you're unwell.
- Returning to work only when you feel better.
- Getting plenty of rest and staying hydrated.
- Washing your hands regularly with soap and warm water.
- Cleaning frequently touched surfaces, such as keyboards, phones and door handles.
- Using tissues to cover coughs and sneezes and disposing of them promptly.
We hope this offer encourages school staff to protect themselves and others by getting vaccinated. If you have not yet had your flu jab, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of the scheme and help reduce the spread of flu across our workplaces and communities.
