Free breakfast clubs
As you know, the government is committed to delivering a free breakfast club in every state-funded school with primary-aged pupils in England. The evidence shows that children benefit most from a breakfast club which not only provides a healthy breakfast, but also a soft start to the school day before learning begins.
Free breakfast clubs remove barriers to opportunity by offering primary school children, no matter their circumstance, a supportive start to the school day. This helps to drive improvements in behaviour, attendance and attainment, and provides families with more affordable childcare choices.
We are pleased to let you know that today we have re-published the full list of schools that are on the free breakfast clubs programme. This now includes schools already delivering since April 2025 on the early adopter scheme, those who opened their doors this April, as well as schools who will be opening their new free breakfast clubs from the start of the new term in September.
Please find the list here.
We also recently sent a short survey to schools that are not yet part of the programme and we would appreciate it if you could encourage these schools to complete it by 17 July.
Their insights will help us, and delivery partners, to shape practical guidance and support for schools.
Thank you for your continued support for the rollout of free breakfast clubs.
