As we approach the start of the new academic year, we would like to thank schools and post-16 providers for their continued support in providing destination information for Year 11 leavers and students progressing from Year 12 to Year 13.

Accurate and timely destination data is essential in helping Oxfordshire County Council fulfil its statutory duties to support young people into education, employment and training. It also enables us to identify at the earliest opportunity those young people who may be at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) and ensure that appropriate support can be offered.

We would be grateful if destination returns could be submitted as soon as information becomes available and that records are as complete and accurate as possible. Regular updates to Year 12 and Year 13 enrolment information throughout the academic year are also extremely valuable, and we will continue to issue periodic reminders and requests for updates.

The importance of high-quality destination data is receiving increasing national attention. The Interim Milburn Report: Young People and Work highlights the need for accurate and timely data sharing to ensure young people are effectively tracked and supported, particularly those who may be uncertain about their next steps after education.
