850 new wraparound childcare places

We have currently supported the creation of 850 new wraparound (before and after school) childcare places in Oxfordshire primary schools. 

Evidence shows that providing, or partnering with an external provider to deliver, wraparound childcare can improve attendance and punctuality, offer a calm start to the day, widen pupils’ activity opportunities, support working parents and carers, and make schools more attractive to families. 

Wraparound provision can also generate additional income for schools. Grant funding is available to support start up costs for the first two years when establishing new provision or expanding existing provision by increasing capacity or extending operating hours.
