Oxfordshire Well Schools Partnership
Well Schools Oxfordshire: A Local Partnership for National Impact
Well Schools is a national movement involving over 2,000 schools and trusts across the UK, all committed to improving educational outcomes by prioritising the health and happiness of pupils and staff. In Oxfordshire, we are proud to be forming a local partnership that responds to community needs, fosters collaboration, and supports schools in placing wellbeing at the heart of school improvement.
At its core, Well Schools is a school improvement framework that recognises the powerful link between wellbeing and achievement. When pupils and staff are physically and emotionally well, great things happen.
The framework is built around four interconnected pillars:
- Well Culture: Embedding wellbeing into the fabric of school life so that everyone can thrive and reach their potential.
- Lead Well: Empowering staff and pupils to shape their school through strong voice, workload support, professional development, and wellbeing governance.
- Move Well: Preparing pupils physically and mentally for learning and life through high-quality PE, extracurricular activities, active travel, and daily movement.
- Live Well: Equipping pupils with essential life skills through leadership, volunteering, educational visits, and a robust health and wellbeing curriculum.
During our launch event, colleagues from the Youth Sport Trust and school leaders already engaged in the movement will share their experiences and the impact they’ve seen. We’ll also introduce two key elements of the Well Schools offer:
- The Well Check – a free, self-reflective tool that helps schools identify strengths and areas for growth.
- Well Schools Accreditation – a structured and supported process for schools seeking formal recognition of their commitment to wellbeing.
The Oxfordshire Well Schools Partnership will provide a local network for schools to connect, share best practice, and access tailored support throughout their Well Schools journey. Members will also benefit from opportunities offered by a range of local and national partners, helping schools embed wellbeing more deeply and enrich their offer to staff and pupils.
Whether your school is just beginning its journey or already embedding wellbeing into everyday practice, this informative and inspiring session will demonstrate how Well Schools can support sustainable improvement and stronger school communities.
