Nurture Group Training 2025-26

Following success in recent years, the Educational Psychology Service are excited to announce they will be providing Nurture Group Training (pdf, 150kb) this academic year to interested practitioners.

Nurture groups are a psychosocial intervention designed to support the social, emotional and behavioural needs of children. They aim to compensate for children and young people’s (CYPs) missed educational opportunities in their early years and can be delivered in primary and secondary settings. Interested schools are required to identify two Nurture Practitioners who will attend this two day in person training course. Their line manager who is responsible for the nurture group in the school will also be invited to participate in half a day of this course (the afternoon of day one).

The training will take place on Thursday 12 and Tuesday 24 February 2026 at Westgate Collaboration Space, Westgate Library, Oxford.

Nurture practitioners will also be invited to two online group supervision sessions following their training, facilitated by an Educational Psychologist as an opportunity to share ideas and good practice.
