The Educational Psychology Service will be running two online webinars exploring Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) (pdf, 385kb) and barriers to engagement and attendance.
Webinar 1: Introduction to EBSA – Barriers to Engagement and Attendance
This webinar will explore the main theories and frameworks for understanding emotional-based barriers to school attendance. Participants will gain insights into the underlying factors that contribute to EBSA, with the opportunity to discuss common challenges and begin to look at what can help children and young people re-engage with learning.
This session provides a solid introduction for anyone unsure about what EBSA, EBSNA or barriers to attendance or engagement mean.

Webinar 2: EBSA – Early Intervention and Practical Applications for Schools
Attendance at the “Introduction to EBSA” webinar is not required but is recommended to give a broader understanding of EBSA before attending this webinar.
This webinar will explore practical advice and ways to embed support for EBSA throughout school, such as preventative strategies and targeted interventions. The session will introduce the Oxfordshire EBSA toolkit as a resource to support universal and targeted intervention.

Professionals supporting students with EBSA, looking for practical approaches to support students’ engagement with school.
