Academy conversion dates
Schools currently applying for an academy order are asked to contact the School Organisation and Planning Team either by phone or email to discuss their plans and agree on a managed conversion date.
Depending on when you are granted your academy order, the table below indicates the earliest date on which you could convert. Please be aware that these dates are based on the minimum 16-week timeline and do not consider factors such as the number of conversions already planned for that month or other complicating factors that may arise for your school(s), which may increase the time required. It is a guide for information and your conversion date will not be considered confirmed until it is has been agreed by your DfE project lead and OCC School Organisation and Planning Team.
Please also be aware that we do not advise 1 September or 1 January as a conversion date due to previous experience of the difficulties in completing the transfer documentation by the deadlines over the school holiday period. This position is also supported by DfE guidance.
Month academy order received | Earliest possible conversion date(based on minimum timeline, subject to agreement from the School Organisation and Planning Team |
---|---|
September | 1 March |
October | 1 April |
November | 1 May |
December | 1 June |
