Year 11 Leavers and Next Steps
As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for our students in Oxfordshire, I would like to remind you of the responsibilities schools have regarding the submission of intended destinations data.
This is particularly relevant for pupils in Years 11, 12, and 13.
Statutory and Local Responsibilities Submission of Intended Destinations:
Schools are responsible for collecting and submitting intended destination data for their pupils. This includes information on where students plan to go after leaving school—whether into further education, apprenticeships, employment, or training.
If you have any queries regarding intended destinations please contact dawn.floyd@oxfordshire.gov.uk.
Tracking and Data Sharing:
Schools must also track actual destinations and follow up with leavers. For Years 12 and 13, feedback on destination data can only be provided if a data sharing agreement is in place for the individual student.
Careers Guidance and Gatsby Benchmarks:
Schools are required to provide careers guidance in line with the Careers Guidance and Access for Education and Training Providers statutory guidance. The Gatsby Benchmarks serve as a framework to ensure quality in this provision.
Accountability and Follow-Up:
Schools and post-16 providers are expected to take responsibility for their leavers’ outcomes. This includes not off-rolling students without confirming their destinations, and not assuming a student is NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) without verification. The Education, Employment and Training (EET) Service offers support for those leavers at risk of NEET or without a destination for Year 12 and Year 13. Please see our offer on the Schools NEET Page
We also have a the www.oxme.info website, where young people can contact us for support or general enquiries.
If you have any queries regarding schools responsibility regarding their leavers or how the EET service can support please email opportunities@oxfordshire.gov.uk
