Specialist Training from the SENSS Deaf and Hearing Support Team

This practical and interactive training will provide setting staff with the knowledge and skills required to effectively support children and young people who are deaf in educational placements from Foundation Stage through to Key Stage 4. 

The training will enable school and setting staff: 

  • To better understand hearing loss and how it impacts access in education settings.
  • To better understand how to support children and young people in their use of: personal listening systems (hearing aids, cochlear implants, BAHAs), assisted listening devices and sound field systems.
  • To consider how language, literacy and social issues are impacted by deafness.
  • To explore strategies for supporting in settings to promote access and independence.
