Employment Based Degree

OTSA is working with the University of Buckingham to offer an employment based route to a Degree in Education from June 2026. 

This project has four key strands: 

  1. An opportunity for current teaching assistants to gain a low-cost Degree in Education over 3 years with just 10-12 hours study a week, in addition to their working hours.
  2. An opportunity for current Year 13 students to gain a low-cost Degree in Education, earning a salary working as a teaching assistant in local schools.
  3. To provide a pipeline of highly-motivated, well qualified, undergraduate teaching assistants to schools.
  4. Schools include the Education Degree as part of their teaching assistant recruitment strategy. 

There are two degrees are available: 

  • BA (Hons) Primary Education
  • BA (Hons) Secondary Education (Maths and SEND)
