Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers for schools
Would your school like to support the transition to cleaner, greener transport by providing electric vehicle (EV) charging for your school staff, visitors and guests?
Central government grants are available for state-funded education institutions towards the cost of EV charging facilities. The grant provides 75% of the cost of buying and installing the EV chargers, up to a total of £2,500 per socket.
Schools can apply at any time for up to 40 EV charging sockets, with Academy Trusts being able to apply for up to 40 sockets for each institution within the trust. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2025, so don’t miss out on this opportunity for to get EV chargers at a subsidised cost.

- Note that Oxfordshire County Council is keen to encourage schools to apply for this grant, and in principle will be agreeable to requests for installations subject to normal route of requests and associated requirements.
However, it is otherwise unable to support financially, therefore schools will need to self-fund the remaining 25% of charger and installation costs, as well as any upgrades to electrical infrastructure that may be necessary to support the deployment of EV chargers.
