DfE: Supporting individual differences and needs

Module 8 on the DfE Early Years Child Development Training website focuses on supporting children with developmental differences and needs in early years settings. 

The module, titled: Early years child development training: Supporting individual differences and needs covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Understanding what Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are
  • Identifying and supporting children with SEND
  • Making reasonable adjustments and planning to meet individual needs
  • Creating an inclusive culture and environment
  • Collaborating with parents and other professionals

The module is beneficial for all early years staff, especially new staff and Early Years SEND Coordinators (SENDCOs). It is self-paced, allowing participants to pause and resume as needed. The training includes interactive videos and clips, and provides additional resources and links at the end of the course.
