BBO Maths Hub: Exciting New Opportunities For 2025-2026
BBO Maths Hub is delighted to be part of an EEF trial for 2025/26, focusing on the impact of this programme on non-specialist teachers of maths.
Why This Matters:
Many secondary school teachers are teaching maths without specialist initial teacher training. This programme helps develop the subject and pedagogical knowledge needed to teach maths effectively.
Key Details:
- Duration: Equivalent of six days
- Eligibility:
- Currently teaching or planning to teach maths within the next year
- No Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in mathematics
- Schools may enrol two teachers (at least one must teach a Year 8 class for 50%+ of lessons)
Cost: Fully funded

Mastering Number at KS2 – Applications Open for 2025-2026
This project supports Year 4 and 5 pupils in developing fluency and confidence with multiplication and division—key to success in secondary maths.
What Schools Will Gain:
- Pupils build automaticity and number sense
- Teachers understand progression in multiplicative concepts
- Collaborative learning community for refining practice
- Integration of Mastering Number into KS2 curriculum
Who Can Join:
Open to schools that have completed Mastering Number at Reception/KS1 (unless a junior school) and are in a Teaching for Mastery Work Group.

Who Should Apply:
Schools ready to commit to mastery. Headteacher involvement is essential. Each school nominates a maths lead and one additional participant.
What’s Involved:
- Six half-termly Work Group sessions per year
- School visits and termly support from a Mastery Specialist
- Focus on sustainable systems and leadership
