Aspiring Headteachers Development Programme
OCC are delighted to be offering an Aspiring Headteacher Development programme for our fourth year running in partnership with Kim Brosnan and her team at Coaching Transformations.
It is open to any leader who is looking to apply for a HT role within the next 2 years. The cost for the programme will be £400 per delegate and there is a max. of 12 participants.
The programme brings delegates together roughly every 3 weeks from September and will encourage Aspiring Heads to think about the step up to HT with regard to:
- Defining vision and values
- Coaching skills and giving feedback
- Being the leader and being responsible for the strategy of a school
- Writing an effective application
- Being successful at interview - presentation skills and interview preparation
Aspiring Heads will also be paired with a HT mentor to allow them to ask questions/visit another school to help bring their learning to life.
Feedback from our past participants has been really positive – over 60% have now secured headships, with the remainder now clear on the development needed to apply in the future. This is just some of the excellent feedback we’ve received:
- “The Aspiring HT programme was fantastic for getting me into the headspace of a Headteacher, immediately impacting how I approached my current leadership role, helping me to identify gaps to work on and also supporting my application for an Assistant Head role. The mock interview with its positive approach and thorough, personalised feedback ahead of a run through of key areas across the group of trainees, particularly helped to support my confidence, how I presented my experience and what to highlight when stepping into the Headteacher space.”
- “The Aspiring Head programme has had a very positive impact on my practice and my current setting… The sessions have enabled me to reflect and learn, becoming a stronger, better leader, which has had a great impact on the school I currently work in. Kim’s approach is kind, calm, fair and challenging – the perfect mix to push us to review and improve our approaches, question our assumptions and develop our thinking from managerial to strategic. It is in short, a fantastic programme and more school leaders should do it!”
There will be a virtual meeting on 4.00-4.30pm Tues 15 July for delegates and Line Managers to attend if you would like to find out more or ask any questions. If you would like to join please email kim.brosnan@coachingtransformations.co.uk
To apply for the programme delegates should submit a short introductory email to include what they would hope to gain from the programme (in no more than 200 words) by Friday 18 July to kim.brosnan@coachingtransformations.co.uk
