Upcoming Changes to Childcare Support
Schools will be aware of the Government’s plans to improve childcare support for working parents.
This includes extensions to the free nursery entitlement, starting with 15 hours a week for eligible 2-year-olds this April. There is also an aim that wraparound childcare should be available in schools for all primary-age children.

We are now establishing which parts of the County have insufficient capacity for the extended nursery entitlements. Schools interested in creating new nursery provision; offering surplus space to a childcare provider; or extending their current nursery offer should contact the School Organisation and Planning team at schoolplanning@oxfordshire.gov.uk.
Secondary schools with suitable spare space may also be interested in running or leasing space to a childcare provision. This offers many benefits to the community and can be a boost to staff recruitment and retention. Please register an interest at the e mail address above and we will contact you to offer further information and support.
