Small Schools Science Network

This series of training sessions has been carefully planned by experienced small school leaders to maximise impact within a small school setting.

The topics have been based on feedback from teachers in Oxfordshire small schools and carefully sequenced to lead staff through key elements of teaching science in this setting so that teachers feel confident and supported in their science teaching.

The first session will look at schemes of work and how to make them most effective for mixed age classes.  All sessions will involve expert input from experienced school leaders and opportunity for discussion and sharing best practice.  The sessions will be responsive to the needs of the schools signing up.

They will be led by Clare Kirkham, an experienced science teacher, science lead, trainer and school leader at St Blaise primary school, and are being provided through the SSCH – the Spires Science Curriculum Hub for Oxfordshire, formerly operating as the SLP
