Improving Early Identification in Oxfordshire: an introduction to WellComm

We are committed to early identification in Oxfordshire.  A reminder that every early years nursery setting has a WellComm screening and intervention toolkit, this includes the PVI sector, maintained nursery schools and schools with nursery classes.  Please ensure you are screening all children at a universal level to ensure all needs are identified before children start in Reception.  This introductory training will help you to increase your confidence to access and navigate the WellComm tool kit. The training aims to:

  • Increase your confidence to access and navigate the WellComm tool kit
  • Help you use the screening tool to identify and understand young children’s speech, language and communication needs
  • Support you to understand how to use the Big Book of ideas to support young children with speech, language and communication difficulties

This training is aimed at Early Years practitioners in a nursery setting that have access to a WellComm pack and work with children aged up to 6 years.
