Grove Church of England Primary School set to benefit from £9.4 million investment in new buildings

Pupils at Grove Church of England Primary School are set to benefit from a £9.4 million investment in new buildings and improvements, funded by Oxfordshire County Council and approved by its cabinet on Tuesday 18 June.

This major building project will expand the school’s capacity from 210 to 315 primary pupil places, plus there will be 39 new nursery places. Temporary classrooms will be replaced by permanent structures.

The project will be managed by the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust, which is responsible for the school, working in partnership with the county council and David Wilson Homes, who is delivering a new housing development to the north of the school.

Lisa Lyons, Oxfordshire County Council’s Director of Children Services, said: “These are exciting plans for Grove Church of England Primary School, reflecting our ongoing commitment to provide high quality teaching and learning environments for Oxfordshire’s children, and our success in securing resources for education from housing developers.

“This is a significant investment, adding nearly 150 places for primary and nursery pupils to meet future needs.”

The new school building will consist of seven classrooms, a hall and kitchen, main entrance reception area, and administrative and staff accommodation.

David Wilson Homes will provide the school with a full-sized all-weather sports pitch, and a new entrance into the school site with parking for staff and visitors. This will be on additional school land that forms part of the Monks Farm housing development.

Details of when work will start will be confirmed in coming months, based on the timetable for delivery of the access road by David Wilson Homes.
