  • The Safeguarding Lead Governor Wed 31 Jan 18:30-20:30
  • Safeguarding in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Tue 20 Feb 19:00-20:00
  • The Role of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Governor Mon 26 Feb 19:00-20:30 Governance – attendance

The Department for Education (DfE) guidance is clear that improving school attendance begins at board level, meaning governing boards should take an active role in attendance improvement and collaborate with leaders to set a whole school culture. Attending school is critically important for children’s life chances, including their attainment, wellbeing, wider development and safeguarding.

The guidance includes a table of responsibilities which sets out the role that trustees and governors have, this is a useful reminder for boards.
