The EYFS for Support Staff

This is a one-and-a-half-hour course which will explore how support staff in EY can support the children’s learning. It will cover aspects of the EY provision which may be specific to EY and which new support staff to EY may not have a clear understanding of. 

It will also refresh staff who have some knowledge of this type of approach to provision. Support staff will be able to: 

  • Explain the terms continuous provision, adult led, adult initiated and child-initiated learning.
  • Define the essentials of good quality interactions. 
  • Explain the key person role.
  • Explain the meaning of phonological awareness. 
  • Show an initial understanding of the adaptive approach.
