I am humbled to sit and listen in to the weekly Tuesday morning COVID calls with headteachers. Today was a landmark in terms of reaching the end of a full academic year, having to balance the challenges of managing the impact of a pandemic alongside maintaining business as usual. I would like to thank you all, for your tenacity, dedication and absolute determination to do the best for the children and families within your local communities. Collectively, you have made an immense difference to the lives and life chances of those children and young people.
I would also like to acknowledge the absolute dedication of the OCC Education Covid-19 team, supported by colleagues from public health and children’s social care. At the end of todays headteacher call, there were many messages of thanks for the team, including this one:
“Thank you so much for all your support and help throughout the last year. These briefings really have been a lifeline at times.”
I am very proud of the work of the team and all that has collectively been achieved in support of our schools and settings. I wish you all a restful, peaceful summer and look forward to the challenges which lie ahead for the new academic year, working together in support of the Oxfordshire family of schools.
