Governor Services - Summer letter

A letter from Tim Brock, lead for Governor Services

Dear Oxfordshire Governors

I am writing to you on behalf of Oxfordshire County Council Governor Services to thank you for the commitment you show and the hours you put in as we strive to improve outcomes for all children in the County.

The pandemic continues to provide a challenging back drop but the team are constantly reminded of the ambition and drive that you display; we see it every day. In fact, this year you have been interacting with us in more ways than ever before. Attendance on our training courses has increased by 25% year on year and the feedback you provide has allowed us to plan future sessions more efficiently.

Through virtual briefings, online support, bitesize training and our Clerking Service we aim to enable you to deliver effective and compliant governance.

You may be aware of some personnel changes within the Team. Joanne Myers now leads the Clerking Service and we have also welcomed Helen Tate. Helen will take over the role of Governor Support Officer from Harmony Ashworth who retires in September, she will be missed by us all. I hope that during her retirement Harmony can reflect on the valuable contribution she has made.

In preparation for the new academic year we have written and posted the Annual Schedule 21/22 and all the training courses for both Governors and Clerks have been added to GovernorHub. Maintained school board members and those who govern in settings that buy GovernorHub through our ‘Buyback’ process can book places directly. If your school subscribes to training, there will be no additional charge. All other bookings will be charged on a ‘pay as you use’ basis.

For schools with no access to GovernorHub, bookings can be made through Governor Services: – By email to or by phone on 03300 249046

We look forward to seeing you in September and on behalf of the Governor Services Team have a wonderful break.

Tim Brock

Head of Governor Services
