Additional traded services

Traded services that are available, separate from the annual offer

In addition to the annual Buyback subscriptions, schools can access additional traded services offered by Oxfordshire County Council service areas.

Legal Advice – available to maintained and academy schools

All schools and academies in Oxfordshire can access legal advice from the County Council’s legal services. This legal advice is charged at significantly reduced rates from dedicated solicitors with many years of experience in advising schools on all legal issues. You can find out more about the services they offer on the attached leaflet.

All you need to do to start using Legal Services is complete the final page on the Service Level Agreement. When you speak to a solicitor they will give you an indication of cost before they commence work.

For more information, email the Legal Practice Manager, Laura Grainger at laura.grainger@oxfordshire.gov.uk

Oxfordshire Outdoor Visits

For Oxfordshire’s maintained schools we fulfil the council’s statutory responsibility to monitor and authorise visits. Academies and non-maintained schools can also access the Educational Advisory Service by direct purchase. The offer includes:

  • Advice and guidance
  • Training, assessing and defining competence of visit leaders and assistants
  • Monitoring visit programmes

The service runs nationally recognised training and refresher courses aimed at Educational Visit Co-ordinators (EVCs). These are accessible to all Oxfordshire schools and booking fees are advertised on the website below.

http://schools.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/content/educational-site-visits and look under ‘Educational Visits and other training’.

Oxfordshire Outdoors

The three outdoor education centres which served Oxfordshire schools for nearly 50 years are now under new management.

Kilvrough Manor, Woodlands and Yenworthy Lodge previously run by the county council, are now managed by Groundwork South, a registered charity, under a 25-year contract which promises to unlock new sources of funding to improve facilities at the venues.

An integral feature of the contract is an access entitlement for Oxfordshire schools; importantly this means business as usual for OCC schools and academies as it guarantees availability. Service-wide bookings and enquires can be made to admin.kilvrough@oxfordshireoutdoors.co.uk or 01792 232743. It’s advisable to book early to secure your school a valued course.

The centres use natural environments to support real and adventurous learning. Our courses broaden horizons, build character and develop a sense of individual and collective achievement. Set in stunning natural locations that include rivers, coastline, caves, crags, moors and mountains, each of our centres is unique, offering schools a range of outdoor learning experiences.

Prices from £310 per student. For full details on pricing or promotional offers see the Oxfordshire Outdoor Learning Service website. Contact us if you would like to discuss prices or any area of our services in person.
