Comprehensive information for support trans and gender questioning children and young people

An increasing number of children and young people are identifying as trans and gender questioning and schools need information to support them to ensure that they are safeguarding the well-being of this vulnerable group.

A reminder that Oxfordshire has a comprehensive Trans Inclusion Toolkit for schools that is approved by both the Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children Board and the School Safeguarding Team.

This toolkit was published in 2017 and is attached here and is also available on our Homophobic, Biphobic and Transphobic Anti-Bullying pages. http://schools.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/content/homophobic-biphobic-and-transphobic-bullying. You can also find further information and advice on these pages.

We are also running a course as part of the OSCB themed courses on "Supporting LGBT Children, Young People and Families" and you can register for the course and find out more information here. https://training.oscb.org.uk/events-list.

If you need any further advice or support with supporting trans and gender questioning children and young people please contact Jo Brown, Anti-Bullying Co-ordinator. jo.brown@oxfordshire.gov.uk
