Progress on SEND Transformation – March 2021

The discovery phase of this project is almost complete, with work on prioritising recommendations scheduled to take place by the end of April, and our planning phase scheduled to commence in May.  The Board has prioritised the involvement of as many stakeholders as possible, to support and enable those who deliver and those will receive services to engage fully in their development from the beginning.  

Parents and school leaders are actively involved on the Board, and we will focus on obtaining input from young people during the summer term.

The SEND Transformation Board specified that the areas of focus were to be:

  • Improving inclusion
  • Develop sustainable services
  • Reducing overspend

The workstreams have focused on developing opportunities utilising the feedback from wider groups.  The ideas and suggested adjustments to approaches will determine the actions required to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

There will be numerous opportunities for school staff who support children and young people with SEND to get involved.  Please look out for invitations to provide your input as we continue to improve the delivery of SEND services in Oxfordshire.

Opportunity to support the Sufficiency Workstream

We would like to invite a senior member of staff from Early Years and also Post-16 education to be part of the Sufficiency workstream.  We are focused on developing projections of our SEND population to predict our SEND estate and identifying opportunities to meet the changing needs of their education within Oxfordshire.
