Children Looked After Service

Improving the life chances of children and young people living in and leaving care.

The purpose of the Children Looked After Service is to work in partnership with children and young people, parents, carers, local authority departments, Health and other local agencies to improve the life chances of children and young people living in and leaving care by:

  • Improving their physical, psychological and emotional health
  • Reducing the likelihood of individuals needing to be looked after on a long-term basis by providing support to their parents and carers
  • Improving their physical, psychological and emotional health
  • Maximising placement stability and increasing the use of adoption
  • Protecting individuals from harm, promoting and enhancing their welfare
  • Minimising the impact of their disabilities
  • Helping them fulfil their educational potential through the attainment of GCSEs and other equivalent qualifications
  • Reducing their offending
  • Helping them make positive contributions to their community and society
  • Achieve economic well-being via training, employment and housing opportunities
